HSBC Names Global Head Of Investments, Managed Solutions

has appointed Sami Abouzahr as global head of investments and managed solutions, in its wealth and premier solutions area, effective 1 July.

Abouzahr, who is based in Hong Kong, the UK/Hong Kong-listed bank said in a statement yesterday, will continue to report to Lavanya Chari, head of wealth and premier solutions, HSBC. With the expanded responsibilities of this role, Abouzahr will also lead the bank’s ultra-high net worth solutions group to use the team’s expertise in driving client experience for UHNW individuals, families and entrepreneurs worldwide. He will take charge of Jan-Marc Fergg’s previous portfolio and with an expanded remit, a spokesperson for HSBC told WealthBriefingAsia when asked about the matter.

Abouzahr, who has been head of wealth and premier solutions for Hong Kong, will continues to lead that team until HSBC names a successor. During his career in financial services, he has held a number of leadership roles at HSBC in Hong Kong, mainland China, and the UK. Areas include asset management, wealth management and wholesale banking.

“We have been advising our clients to diversify their investment portfolios to mitigate risks amid market uncertainties. This appointment will reinforce the implementation of our market insights to guide our clients in accessing investment opportunities across regions, sectors and asset classes,” Chari said.
